One-third of the year, I’m based out of a small farmhouse on a hill, overlooking a tiny Tuscan hill town. My neighbors are olive farmers who raise their own food. I make a habit of inviting myself to lunch several times a week for fire-toasted bruschetta with home-harvested oil, handmade pasta and farm-raised sausage.
The Cinque Terre: A must see area in Italy! There’s nothing better than fresh focaccia and wine on the Italian Riviera.

Before I got on my plane for Italy, my grandfather said to me, “I hope you get a chance to take a gondola in Venice. It’s always been a dream of mine.” This one’s for you, Grandpa.

This is Guardia Piemontese, the city where my family originates from. While living in Florence, I decided to learn more about my family history. After hopping on a train, taking a plane, and renting a car (with not one single map!), I found myself wandering the streets of this amazing little town in Calabria. I even got to see the house where my grandfather grew up! Most successful trip of my life so far.
