Hello, I was just wondering what the story was behind all those pieces of red cloth on the rope above the mountains?

The image is from Mt. Huashan, one of the five sacred mountains in China. The red pieces of cloth along the path to the top are prayer ribbons. Couples put locks on the chains and throw the keys over the side of the mountain to symbolize their everlasting love. Definitely one of the most dangerous yet beautiful places in the world.
